I had a similar issue the first time I tried to update my 798. Found I need to format the SD card first. So now I use a blank card for my updates. First thing I do is do a quick format (right click on it in the explorer menu, select format, fast format). Then I put the update software, and only the ...

Humminbird PC crashing

I have a new Sony Vaio laptop running Windows 7 Pro, 64 bit, all the latest updates installed from Microsoft. I have the latest version of HB PC installed, 3.2.2, and it seems to run fine. HB PC comes up, imports the .gpx file from the card, allows me to see the waypoints, etc. But when I go to save...

Ah, sorry, missed that part. Most likely not if the stock cover doesn't work.

Cabelas sells neoprene covers. I have one on my 798 that is a great fit. Very snug. It's the smaller size cover.

Did you export all your nav data to the card before removing it from the unit? There is an option on one of the menus to do that.

I'd try to format the card. Then re-export the stuff from your 798 to it, and then re-import them to HB PC.

WhompusFinder's post reminded me to go pull the hours on my 798. I've had it about 1.5 years now, got it new with the new boat. 899 hours so far, and very happy with it. It has never given me any trouble at all as far as locking up, powering off, needing reset, etc. Rock solid. I had the screwy dept...

Thanks. Downloading it now. But it wouldn't it make sense to put it on the general download tab under support too?

Do you have a link to that manual? I don't see any 798 models at all on the Download Manuals link on the HB site.

Thanks for the link, Greg. Do you know if those updates will be coming to the 997 models anytime soon? I've been thinking about interlinking my 798 and 997, so am hesitant to make this update to my 798 given the warnings about interlinking with this update.

I get them big time on both my 798 and 997. I have some great recent snapshots I'm just too lazy to pull off the unit and upload. But I'll post them if you want to see them.

If you're using it on the trolling motor, the internal antenna is ideal.

I just installed a new trolling motor. Powerdrive V2 with i-pilot. The i-pilot is unbelievable. The fact that you cannot use i-pilot and co-pilot together just infuriates me. I have been using the co-pilot for a couple of years and have the key fob sized control holders mounted to each of my rods. ...
