Did you "Export Nav Data" on the 797 just prior to insert it in the 1198..

Maybe you didn't update the sdcard from the 797 before putting it in the 1198.

So it only imported old waypoints??

New Update..

I have now 9 tracks in the unit. With a total of 21,554 trackpoints in memory.
All are show in full precision..

I just need to check if I can go over 10 tracks.

It's just something that was wondering, the precision of the circular view.
And thought of sharing the data with the forum!

Flasher View - scientific explanation.

I was wondering what was the precision of the flasher view VS the RTS window. I found a screen shot from a 700 series color unit, so with the 640x640 screen. I imported the picture in Autocad to measure the number of "line" that compose the circular view. What I found was interesting! Using precise ...

The video output is done via single RCA connector. So the resolution will not be great.. If you want a flat screen or a laptop, you need to check one with a Composite input. Laptop is done via a USB video capture dongle. The main problem will be the brightness of these said screens.. You will not se...

Maybe my bad, as I always use Garmin GPS receiver, and they quote their precision using the 95% figure.

Edit: I think it's a more precise way of determining precision on real world test.

Since you have quoted an accuracy of 13 ft, 95% of the time,
You said the same thing as me, 15 ft with WAAS.

Accuracy is always expressed in 95% figures.

For the rest, you are correct!

Have a good day everyone!

I have not filled entirely the 50 track as of today, but I know the unit has eaten a 5000 point track without any problem.

I'm in the process of making lake contour using track points to have a small maps of the lake I fish...
Will check it when I go over 10 tracks...

The latest upgrade should take care of it...

BUT.. to have a reliable bottom sounding in shallow water, you should set your unit like that :

Shallow Water setting.
Switchfire at "clear mode"
And surface clutter between 5 and 10

I've been able to have rock solid sounding up to 1.5 ft of water.

Normally, a 12 channel receiver should be enough for precise tracking... Since 12 Satellites are possible, sometimes not, depending on their position. What a 50 channel receiver does, is that it locks faster on the sat at power up. But don't add to the accuracy of the unit. The accuracy of a receive...

Can you interlink the two units to share the GPS position?

Would it be better than a second external antenna??

Strange 778C

I've just got a brand new 778c from the mail to replace my 718. Just made the update from the web and transfered my waypoints and tracks from the previous unit.. I noticed something strange in HumminbirdPC latest version.. When the 778c was connected, it was showing 3000 waypoints and 50 tracks. And...

It doesn't matter that much.. since you are on water, you have a clean view of the sky and the GPS receiver will get a good signal.

Just try it, and you will be happy... I don't think that 150$ will be a good investment in that case..
