I have a 797 which I am going to mount on the bottom of the rudder of my kayak. The rudder is 1/16 Aluminum.
I plan to cut a 1/16 slot forward to aft in the round part with the hole on the transducer which is usually used to hold the transducer to the transom mount. then I will slide the transducer onto the bottom of the rudder with the rudder inside the cut I made. I will then drill a hole in the rudder at the location which lines up with the mounting hole of the transducer. I believe that there will be no damage to the transducer so far.
What I would like to do next is to cut a 1/32 groove in the surface of the transducer where the rudder hits the transducer so the rudder "nests" into the transducer. I will Lexel the two together to minimize any vibration.
What do you think?? will the 1/32 groove affect the transducer?
