Sharing information between 999 units

Post by Leveehog » Sun Mar 01, 2015 8:34 am

I will have 2 new 999 units, Minn Kota Terrova 80 with iPilot link, and a 5 port hub.

Can si hdsi transducer be an Ethernet function? IE: Can an adaptor be used to connect a transducer directly to a 5 port hub and then see si on all 999 units connected to the hub?

Or Can I connect the si transducer to one unit and still view si on all other units connected to Hub?

I have an 899 at the bow and a 999 at the wheel. Transducer to the 999 . Used an Ethernet cable from the 999 to the 899. Dont need a hub unless you have 3 units.

Correct. That's what I understand.

But is the ipilot link an Ethernet function and need a place to plug in, which will make three Ethernet connections and require the hub, or will there still be a place to plug ipilot link directly to the bow unit while it is linked to the console unit?

With two units and the i-Pilot Link you will need the 5-Port Ethernet Switch to connect all three.

No transducers connect directly to the 5-Port Ethernet Switch, they only connect through an operational unit (turn the unit off and the connection is lost). So you could connect one HDSi transducer to your console mounted 999 unit and see the 2D, Si and Di sonar from it on your bow mounted 999 unit and also send commands to your i-Pilot Link from either unit.

Great. Thanks for your help.

I wasn't sure how to get transducer info to share. I think it will be a fun system when It is all together and working. Never had anything but 2d sonar fishfinder on trolling motor. Never any gps maping. This will be a big change.

Boy there are a lot of unexpected hidden costs to get it all connected; cables, adaptors, extentions, and hub!
