HumViewer Problems

Post by fay4est » Sat Aug 03, 2013 11:48 am

Lately I am unable to view recording on humviewer. They will play on my unit but will not play after I move
them to my humviewer file. They will show as the same size file after being moved but will not play.
Operator error may be the problem but I have tried everything. Other files I have moved in the past only
require me to open the ".DAT" file and they play great. I must be doing something wrong. Any suggestions?
Need some help ---- Fay :?

Have you updated your unit software lately?

If so you need to update HumViewer.

The processing was changed when the 360 and iPilot menus were added.

I have updated my unit software but I don't see a way to update humviewer. Should I delete it and reinstall

Wayne, I just uninstalled my old version and reinstalled the new one and it is working great.
Thanks, because my old recordings would still play I did not think it could be a HumViewer problem.
Thanks again and have a great day. Should have ask you weeks ago, I sure have wasted a lot of
time. tight lines - Fay

If you want some really clear playbacks of SI for your recordings, try DeepView FV.

You have to translate the recordings to a different format with one of the conversion softwares in your accout to use it. One thing about it though, is you don't get all the readouts or other views, but the SI images are very sharp.

I would like to give a try. Which of the files do I convert and is the converter in the FV download?

You translate the .DAT file and the conversion software is in your Humminbird account.
There should be two versions to choose from and the conversion software is Son2xtf

You need the .xtf file type for several 3rd party viewers to read the recordings.

I have read that some are not getting the conversion software files in their account.
Contact Humminbird if you don't have it.

Wayne, HB is telling me I need "GPS Visualizer" but that doesn't look like it will do it.
I found a "son2xtf.exe" but that will not load like it should. I guess I am trying to convert
my .dat files to .xtf, is this correct? Fay

Yes, that is correct and you have the correct file.

To get the software you have to download and SAVE the file and then open the file to install it.

I still have the two .son files in my account for my 798ci SI Combo.
Those files came from Humminbird.
One is for Vista and the other is for other Microsoft versions.

You just have to be computer savy enough to know how to install software.

Something was just fouled up I guess Wayne. Once I deleted it and reinstalled it worked fine.
Thanks again - Fay
