I got one bin from a SI device but i cant extract the bin :( With a HexEditor i see see that the firmware got all languages.

// edit :

it seems that the devices are running linux. I extracted 3 files:

Code: Select all

-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 24 12. Nov 19:42 hwid.txt
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1537024 12. Nov 19:42 squashfs-3-lzma.img
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1048576 12. Nov 19:42 vmlinuz
now we need a pro whichcan extract the filesystem.
How did you extract this?
i had a look at a firmware update, and couln't extract it.
If you got the img, it looks relative easy to me.
Could you pm me the firmware and how you did this?
I'm interested at the 798CI HD SI
I'm not an owner yet. so no access to firmware.

798SI HD is running following OS:

RTXC v3.2b for ARM and Thumb - ARM ADS 1.0.1 Nov-17-00

The debugging system rtxcbug is running, too ;-)

Best regards!

Hi any progress, or information to share?
Found the OS version RTXC in firmware image
valla probably didn't extract eh files hwid.txt , squashfs-3-lzma.img and vmlinuz . been there done that with a "regular" firmware extraction tool, but the files are just nothing.
I'm interested in the bootloader, or any other information which might help me started.

I have a US model 898csi with navionics maps
At the time US price was $1200 plus 100 delivery
Aus price was $2400 pick up from local (down to $1900 now)
I could not justify the extra $ and neither could my local dealer.
Seriously, we buy this unit for the Side image sounder, the GPS is secondary
The GPS works fine with no errors at all,but the trip log is out, so what, i can live with that,
its in feet and inches, i can live with that
I take a watch with me and it tells me the time I leave and the time i get back
I dont see the drama you guys are having and it amazes me you will spend any amount to get something for nothing.

Hello, i am new to this forum... i just want to tell you guys not to give up. I have been in contact with one of the EBAY sellers telling me that there area handfull of russian companies that are bying the imperial version. they buy 20 at a time... he says they are able to fix the imperial/metric problem and make their units display russian. the units are IDENTICAL and its merely software. so if you would like to find the answer all we need is to find who the buyers are and ask how they are able to fix the problem... have a good day
