859ci HD DI Combo

Post by moore6854 » Thu Mar 20, 2014 12:23 pm

I am going to purchase the 859ci HD DI Combo for the front of the boat and have a 998c SI Combo at the counsel, can I connect the two and if so, what do I gain by doing so. If I can and it would benefit me, what do I also need to purchase? New at this, thanks Rick

You can connect it to the 998c SI via Ethernet and share GPS data and compatable accessories.
You would need the AS EC QDE Ethernet adaptor for the 859 and an Ehernet cable long enough to connect the units along the path you route the cable.

I would suggest that you exchange the unopened transducer package for the XTM 9 WIDE DI 20 T trolling motor puck. It will give you better 2D performance and has extra internal shielding for that application.
Contact Humminbird Customer Service for that exchange.

Wayne, I think I now have decided to get a 899ci HD SI for the front, do I need to get a AS EC QDE or will the Ethernet cable connect directly to each one? Thanks, again Rick

No, the 998 already has an Ethernet cable connection. It is where the rubber cap is on the back of the unit.
That is a xx8 series.

Hi Rick,

I have an 898SI and the 859DI, they are networked together. On the 859DI I can see side imaging even tho the 859 is not an SI unit.
