### HBTrackMapper ###
You need a map of your lake on your Humminbird unit? Try this free tool!
Using HBTrackMapper, you are able to map a lake from few recorded traces. The recording is done using your Humminbird and also it is possible to display the mapped chart on your Humminbird! All you need is some recorded tracks from your lake and this software.
Importing GPX KML and HT Files
- Load any number of GPX tracks or HT tracks recorded by your Humminbird.
- Add shoreline and island figures, drawn in Google Earth and exported to KML or GPX.
- You are able to set custom colors, which will result in nice images.
- Using the editing tools you could delete wrong recording points and merge multiple files to a big project. Save and load this project as an GPX file.
Prepare Mapping
- Interpolate with a very good algorithm values between the tracks and create a depth map. You will love it's extrapolation width which could be set to your needs. It is possible to get a nice map with just a few tracks with distances of more than 50m between.
- Setup custom discover width!
- Mapping is using all CPUs of your machine, so you'll get finished faster.
After mapping
- This is the mapped image!
ISO lines
- Now it's time to create an ISO style map. Setup the depth difference of each line and start it:
- After calculation you could export this file as an GPX to view on your Garmin GPS...
Exporting maps for Humminbird units
- Create an HT file of the ISO map to view it on your Humminbird while fishing!
Save as an HT-File to SD Card and upload to your Humminbird. It is also possible to upload via serial connection (please contact me for further instructions!).
- Have better fishing results with custom home brewn charts!

Have a lot of fun!

Hi SilmarilS!
I didn't see your post until now. Great work!
Are all the contour-lines saved in one track, or are these multiple tracks?
Regards!
John

It depends... The one you see in the post, is only one line, that I merged.
Sometimes you can merge some tracks, but not always. It depends on the map.
The more complex the map is. The more difficult is to merge tracks.

Is it right, that you use only one single line? Because I was not able to "disconnect" independent polygons in a single track-file without using a separation sequence in the *.HT file....
Using my method, you are able to create multiple independent and not connected polygons in a single (!!!) *.HT file.

You can use 1 or multiple polygons to draw the map. It will depends on the complexity and the type of map that you want to show.
Me, I use Garmin Mapsource, since all my GPS are Garmin, to merge multiple tracks in one big track.
Save space on the unit for more data.
I don't know if you can merge tracks with another programs. Never tried.
I'm now using a 778C which provides ample track space to have multiple lake contour and some depth contour on the lakes that I fish the most.

@Humminbird: Are there any further information about the HT-file format?
I understand the header and the difference-structure of the file. As I recognized, there are "secret" patterns to create for example gaps in tracks.
Are there other interesting sequences? I'm very interested in coloring the track and filling the track.
Thank you a lot!
John

Nothing that I know of.
Even if I did I would probably not be allowed to say.

So, now you can use ALL 20000 points of a HT file and create really really huge maps in on HT-File!
Note: It is a single track with independent polygons.... This map uses around 4000 waypoints.

I am using a HB 797si for several years and I was looking for map creating possibilities for my unit since that.
Humminbird has to consider, that there is no possibility to buy lake maps in Europe for the HB devices.
I have to tell you, that I am totally fed up now.
My solution: I purchased a Lowrance HDS 5 and created maps with DrDepth and/or Global-Mapper for the Lowrance device.
Next to the contours I was able to put in "old Streets", buildings, wooded areas, and so on.
So this is my recommendation to solve the problem.
Best regards
Emerles

Hey guys!
I started to write a windows program, allowing you to convert any segmented GPX file to a HT File preserving all polygon segments.
This manual editing is hell, we need a program So I hope the program will be finished this weekend and sure.... it's FREEWARE!
I'll be back, if the programming is finished....

l889,
A program would come in handy. I have been trying to make the hex file work. Please help. I used Dr. depth to make some contours of holes in a river, I opened them with HB pc and updated them to my SD card and all is great. But there are 13 gpx files I have to upload, so I edited the gpx file to make one track and that works but as you know it links the polygons. I want to make some maps of hard rock humps also put its lots of polygons. What am I dong wrong in the ht file.
using
Dr. Depth - (to find area info)
HxD hex editor
HB 798ci SI - ( to record area info)
Editpad lite - (text editor)

Hi!
My program will be finished this week. It's able to process all kind of GPX and KML files.
If you like to get a previous verison, please PN.
I'll publish the program via this board, so stay tuned!
Best regards!
John

As promised here is my program. Please give me feedback!
-> Input any GPX or KML files (multiple files are merged together)
-> Output is a 000.HT file, which could be loaded to the echo (copy to the smartcard folder: \matrix\).
USE AT YOUR OWN RISK! Distribute it! It's Freeware!
http://www.lnx-ware.de/echotoolbox/HTTrackBuilder.exe
PS:
Because I just started this work, as a next step I'll program a complete mapping software. Input your recorded tracks and get a high detailed and state-of-the-art visualized 2D and 3D map in a never seen quality!
I have some very promising ideas how to generate a very high resolution map without driving along any inch of your lake of course this will be freeware, too! Stay tuned!
